The journey

The Kuala Lumpur to Batang Melaka train, up close.

Batang Melaka is one of only two railway stations in Melaka state, on the West Coast Line south of Kuala Lumpur. It is the train option for Melaka, but plan the last part of the trip before you go.

Batang Melaka is not Melaka city

The station is in Jasin district, on the Melaka - Negeri Sembilan border, well away from the historic centre. Panorama Melaka buses 21A and 21B run to Melaka Sentral, the city's bus terminal. Grab drivers are scarce at the station, so arrange a pickup if you can.

How long does the Kuala Lumpur to Batang Melaka train take?

The fastest train, the EP9425, takes 2h01m, and the slowest takes 2h10m. There are 3 trains a day: the first leaves Kuala Lumpur at 12:15 and the last at 17:50.

Two stations for Melaka

Melaka's other station is Pulau Sebang/Tampin, further north on the same line. Compare the road time from each to where you are staying before you pick your ticket.

About the author

Maxence Decamp, founder of YesMyTrips, on a boat in Southeast Asia.

Maxence Decamp

French, based in Southeast Asia since 2017

I spent six years in transport booking across Southeast Asia before founding YesMyTrips in 2025. In those years I saw too many travellers arrive at the wrong station, miss their train, or pay two or three times the real fare because of contradictory information found online. The platform exists to make booking simple and reliable.

This editorial site exists for a different reason. Most English language guides to trains in the region are generic, copied from one blog to the next, and often wrong. Here I publish data checked against the official operator systems, and I write the guides from riding the routes myself, not from a search engine.

This blog combines YesMyTrips' regularly verified data and my own travel notes, route by route.
