Same car, same fare
It is exactly the CNR second class sleeper car, with the same berths, curtains, bedding and power sockets. There is no supplement: it is a seating option, not a premium class.
How to book it.
Search your route as usual and pick a CNR train. On YesMyTrips, choose the second class sleeper (AC) with the pink "Women only" tag: your berth is then placed in the ladies-only carriage. On the official SRT site, the class reads "สตรีและเด็ก" (women and children). The lower berth is wider, has the window and always sells first.
Travelling with a man?
The ladies-only carriage is for women and young children only. Travelling as a couple or with a friend, book the mixed CNR second class on the same train, or a CNR first class cabin for two.
When and how to book it.
SRT opens sales 90 days before departure, at 08:30 Bangkok time.
High season (November to February, Songkran in April)
Book on opening day, 90 days out, from 08:30. There is only one ladies-only car per train, and its lower berths go first.
Low season (May to October)
Book within the first week after sales open: this car sells faster than the mixed CNR second class cars. Weekends stay busy all year.
Missed the opening?
Check again in the week before departure: cancellations and released berths do appear. Not guaranteed, but worth a daily look.
If it is sold out
Try another date or another CNR train first. Otherwise a lower berth in the mixed CNR second class car, curtain closed, is the closest alternative.

From 999 THB (US$ 29.59) for an upper berth to 1,250 THB (US$ 37.03), depending on distance and berth. Bangkok - Chiang Mai: upper 1,064 THB (US$ 31.52), lower 1,176 THB (US$ 34.83). Fares verified October 24, 2026, all fees included.
How far ahead can I book?
90 days before departure, from 08:30 Bangkok time. On shorter trips (under 60% of the line) the window can be shorter.
Which trains have a ladies-only carriage?
Every CNR Special Express night train selling second class sleepers, on the lines listed above. Express and Rapid trains on older carriages do not have one. On Bangkok - Chiang Mai, that means the CNR trains only.

Does it cost more?
No. The fare is exactly the same as the standard CNR second class sleeper, with no supplement. As in every car, the lower berth costs a little more than the upper one.
How is it different from first class?
The ladies-only carriage is an open second class car: berths are separated by curtains, not doors. CNR first class has no women-only car, but its cabins for two are lockable, and SRT does not seat strangers of different sexes together in a cabin.
Are there showers?
No. Like every second class car, it has toilets at the end of the car but no shower. Only CNR first class cars have showers.
When should I get to the station?
Come 30 to 45 minutes before departure at Krung Thep Aphiwat. The ladies-only carriage is usually at the front of the train: check the car number on your e-ticket.
What should I bring?
A sweater (the air-conditioning is strong), earplugs, water and something to eat: the dining car closes in the evening. A small padlock for your bag is a sensible precaution in an open car.
