Vietnam Railways (VR) is the state-owned operator of Vietnam’s railway network, linking Hanoi with Ho Chi Minh City. Its main corridor is the North–South line, with additional routes to Lao Cai, Hai Phong, and other regional destinations. Services range from Cabin 4-Berth to seats. Fares are distance‑based, tickets can be bought at stations or online and via YesMyTrips. Timetables may change for seasonal schedules or engineering works, refunds and changes follow VR rules and may incur fees depending on fare type. Seater and Sleeper Fares Types


VR seater and sleeper trains cover a range from basic seating to sleeper cabin compartments. Sleepers suit overnight long‑distance routes while seaters are common on day services and shorter transfers.


Seated fares cover short, medium and long‑distance travel with simple, affordable comfort options. Tickets are distance‑based, inexpensive, and suitable for day travel or slower overnight runs where sleepers are not required.

Seat - Allow on normal days (no festival/holiday time).
No cancellation are allowed if there is less than 24 hours remaining until departure
Cancellation fees will be applicable as follows:
- 50% of the ticket fare + 50,000 VND per ticket.

Should the transport service be cancelled or delayed because of weather or force majeure, you must cancel your tickets at the station to qualify for a refund.

What ID or documents do I need to bring to board?

Presentation of the e‑ticket is required for boarding VR trains. Passengers should retain an offline digital copy or a printed version of the e‑ticket to prevent boarding delays due to loss of connectivity or device battery failure.

What happens if the bus is delayed or cancelled?

If a train is delayed or cancelled, VR will offer you the option to change your booking or to cancel with a refund.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are allowed under certain conditions: Only dogs and cats are allowed. They need to be registered at the ticket counter before boarding. Pets must be in a secure carrier.

Are there discounts for children?

At present, there is no discounted fares for children. All passengers must purchase tickets at the standard fare.

Are tickets electronic tickets or printed paper required?

Tickets are electronic. Once your booking is complete, YesMyTrips will send the ticket to your email.
